Projects
Nomad Cowork
2021 - Present
Nomad Cowork is a marketplace that helps digital nomads find the best co-working spaces around the world. I hold this project close to my heart, since it is my first software project. I am no longer actively maintaining it, since I have moved on to new ventures, but the application continues to run automatically.
The marketplace enables users to find and reserve co-working spaces. From the supplier side, it allows co-working spaces to list their spaces, and manage their bookings.
The platform is completely free to use for both buyers and sellers, without charging any commission fees. We are keeping it this way to help the community, and allow for organic growth. Currently, the website services roughly 1400 users per month.
This project was part of a backend technical interview challenge, and was completed in around 20 hours. The objective was to create a Python application that exposes a REST api to store and alter football matches and provide statistics on the persisted data.
The api was built with Django and Django Rest Framework utilizing a PostgreSQL database. I supplemented the backend with a simple React frontend, built in NextJS, to visualize the data.
Blog
I started a little blog recently! I started learning about self-hosting, networking, and devops. I'll be writing about my journey and the things I learn along the way. Have a look if you're interested!

Tadaah!
Tadaah is the leading marketplace in the Netherlands for freelancers in childcare. Childcare organizations have access to a pool of 8000 freelancers to fill gaps in their workforce.
At Tadaah, I was responsible for the end-to-end delivery and maintenance of the platform. I worked as a full-stack developer, but was also responsible for the infrastructure and the CI/CD pipeline.
My main achievement here was migrating the frontend to React, including building a complete component library based on headless UI and Tailwind CSS. This was then used to develop the Sign-Up Flow and the main organization dashboard.

NextGear
I started my first job as a software engineer at NextGear in Amsterdam. NextGear is a software agency that mostly builds platforms and apps.
At NextGear, I helped build a POC called XSAlert. The POC was a real-time alerting system built for elderly care that would alert the nurse when a certain (possibly dangerous) event occurred. The nurse was then able to see a live-stream on her phone and decide whether to take action.

Nomad Cowork
Nomad Cowork is my first startup and software project. It is a marketplace where digital nomads can find and book co-working spaces around the world.
I spent the first 9 months traveling as a digital nomad and building this platform. This was a very valuable period in my life which gave me a lot of great experiences. Building the platform completely by myself in Django and React, convinced me that I wanted to pivot into a career in software development. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to achieve the ambitious commercial goals, so I kept the project running as a hobby, free for users to use. I have been a software engineer ever since.

VodafoneZiggo
I have worked in Business Intelligence at VodafoneZiggo for nearly five years. I started my BI career as a Reporting Analyst, building dashboards in QlikSense. After one year I was promoted to Senior Reporting Analyst. Soon after, I shifted from a technical role to become a functional lead, coordinating various large projects related to Marketing Automation, a field which I had experience in from my previous role at Adidas.
My main achievement was building an integrated customer data layer which functioned as a single source of truth for all customer interactions and automated communications.

Adidas (Internship & Thesis)
My first professional experience ever was at Adidas.
I worked as a coordinator in the Global CRM team, where I helped build features on top of our CRM system that helped local markets automate marketing programs. I also wrote my thesis here.

Bachelor of Business Administration
International Business Management at The Hague University of Applied Sciences.
It may come as a surprise after reading my above experiences, but I actually studied business. Even though I later gravitated to software development, I still believe that my business background has been a great asset in my career.
